How do I download a YouTube thumbnail in full quality?

Paste the video URL or ID, then use the maxresdefault result for the largest available thumbnail, usually 1280 by 720 pixels. Click Download for that size, or open it full size if your browser blocks the direct download. Not every older video has a maximum-resolution thumbnail available.

Can I download a YouTube video with this tool?

No, this tool downloads thumbnails only, never the video itself. It shows the public thumbnail images YouTube provides for each video ID in several sizes. If you need the video, use YouTube itself or a service with the rights holder's permission and a proper license.

Why does the download open in a new tab sometimes?

Some browsers block cross-origin file downloads, so a direct blob download can fail even though the image loads fine. In that case this tool falls back to opening the full-size image in a new tab, where you can right-click or long-press it and save it to your device manually.

Can I use a downloaded thumbnail for my own video?

Only if you own the image or have permission from its owner. Thumbnails are usually copyrighted artwork, so reusing someone else's thumbnail without permission can lead to a claim. Use this tool for reference, study, or your own videos where you hold the rights.
